Hosta Totally Awe Sum
Hosta Totally Awe Sum
Hosta ‘Totally Awe Sum’ is a registered and highly distinctive hosta introduced by Mike Koller in 2003 as a sport of the legendary ‘Sum and Substance’. This cultivar is celebrated for its extreme foliage movement, complex coloration, and unmistakable personality, making it a true collector centerpiece.
The large leaves are very wavy, twisted, and corrugated with a slight sheen, displaying up to four distinct color bands over the season. In spring, foliage emerges predominantly gold, then gradually transitions as summer heat arrives to cooler green centers trimmed in white with greenish-yellow edges. The constantly shifting color and texture create nonstop visual interest. Pale lavender, lightly striped flowers appear on tall scapes in mid to late summer, though this cultivar is not fertile and is grown strictly for its foliage impact.
An award-winning and unforgettable hosta that lives up to its name, best suited for collectors and gardeners who appreciate dramatic form and rarity.
